Sydney ~ Day 3~

Three sisters is the main attraction in Katoomba, which took about 2hours and a half to reach by train. It has its own legend regardless the formation explained scientifically.

Long ago, a clever old man called Tyawan lived in the mountains. He had three daughters-Meenhi, Wimlah and Gunnedoo-and a magic shinbone that could change him into a lyebird. One day, Meenhi knocked a rock over the cliff. It crashed into the valley below, waking Bunyip, who charged up the cliff towards the terrified girls. Twayan could not reach his daughters in time, so he changed them into rocks.

The Bunyip chased Twayan, who changed his shape many times before changing his shape many times before changing to a lyebird. But he dropped his magic shinbone when his arms turned into wings. Ever since, lyebird has scratched in the leaves, looking for the shinbone to change the girls back into human form.

Well that is about it. SOmetimes human need to search for their own entertainment and thats why they created such a story. Maybe generation nowadays find it is hard to believe, need to find sonme logic in it first. What a different way of thinking as time pass by.

But scientifically The Sisters were formed by erosion. The soft sandstone of the Blue Mountains is easily eroded over time by wind, rain and rivers, and the cliffs surrounding the Jamison Valley are being slowly broken up. Formations like the Three Sisters are created when water seeps into small cracks in the rock, gradually enlarging them over time to form large indentations. Eventually, the Sisters will be eroded away completely. So take a chance to see His great creature. No matter how wonderful I think a huma n develop a city with modern and tall towers, but it is NOTHING to be compare by this serenity nature. You wont get bored even you stare them for a long time, Subhanallah.
